Light in the Darkness

The other day the Lord spoke to me during my morning bible study time, and asked me to go right back to the beginning of Genesis and read the first chapter. Well I obeyed and read it, closed the book and got on my with my morning routine. When I woke up the next morning to do bible study once again, the Lord asked me again to read Genesis Chapter 1. You might think I’m a bit slow here but for six days I read Chapter 1. It wasn’t until the 7the day it finally hit me square in the face what God was trying to show me. And it changed my life...

We have all been in the darkness. Feeling lost as if the Heavenly Father has abandoned us, or thinking maybe he’s just sick of hearing my complaints, and worries like a broken record. When we are in that place our minds often feel a sense of abandonment, and we struggle to let the light in. That very life giving light! So let’s read Genesis.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day. And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day. And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.

to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:1-16, 18-19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Now I bet you read that and wondered what I am trying to make you see right? We know that the Word was with God, we know that when God spoke the day and night separated. Just by his very Word it happened. We know that the day brought light from the sun, and the night brought a lesser light the moon and stars 🌟 and that is where God spoke to me!

Even in the darkness, He gave us light. A light that many have used throughout history to find their paths. The Magi used the stars to find our baby Jesus, sailors for years have navigated by the stars to reach their destination. God even knew that we needed the light in the darkest of places to guide us back home, to Him. So if you feel like you are in the darkest place without light, without God, you need to rethink that. He is our lighthouse in the storm, He is the smallest glimmer that twinkles so we can always find Him. He knew what we needed from the beginning, before we knew ourselves. Just the tiniest amount of light to guide us home, in the darkness and towards the one light we need to find...His Son...

I pray you meditate on this verse and know without a shadow of doubt that God is with you always, even in the darkest place He has made a way for you!
