Ignite your Faith

Ever feel like the christian walk can be a real rollercoaster when it comes to Faith? One moment you’re up the top feeling the wind in your face, and loving Jesus with your whole heart. You lift your voice with praise and thanksgiving because life is good!. It’s that joy at knowing the plan and thinking everything is going along and according to plan, and then… your world comes crashing down.

All of a sudden, everything feels like it’s coming against you and that joy you felt takes a back seat while confusion and despair take front row. You replace the gratitude with the 'why God?' or, 'the where are you?' questions and your faith takes a nose dive.

One gift I absolutely treasure if the gift of choice our Heavenly Father has given us. We get to choose how we see the good and the bad times. It’s a lesson I have had to learn time and time again. And the more I choose to have faith in God, over wallowing in what I see in the natural, the stronger I become. I know it’s not always easy, believe me I really do get how hard it is to smile when the rain comes pouring down on my head, but the world keeps on turning no matter how I feel, or where I’m at in my christian walk.

I don’t have all the answers to life’s questions. I’m not a qualified counsellor or self help coach. What I am is a daughter of the Most High, who battles these things just like every other human being on the planet! And if I can offer anything it’s this… just a few ideas on how I ignite my faith and put it into action.

Pump up that praise and worship, drown out the silence, block the voice of sadness in your mind for few moments. When I’m lifting God in song and raising my hands, I’m reminded about who loves us, who sent His son to save us, who never leaves nor forsakes us.

Take a walk and just talk with your Heavenly Father. Oh my goodness, this is one of the greatest things I ever took up. I used to hate any kind of exercise, especially the kind that made my chest hurt from too much exertion and got my heart pumping for dear life. But walking, well walking I could do, and now I love it! I tell my Father everything, all my woes, my dreams, my aches and then I always finish with a huge thank you. If I’m genuinely struggling to say anything to Him, I put on a christian podcast and allow my spirit to be filled.

Read the word and seek out scriptures on faith and trusting. There are so many to choose from, and one I love and I think everyone should have memorised is-

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Hebrews 11:1 NIV

When faith is low and you’re struggling to really press on in to the bible, I find writing out a few scriptures and sticking them to the mirror and, I’m going to say it, the bathroom door really helps! Even just putting on a youtube sermon by some great teachers can fill your faith tank.

Like, I said… I get what it’s like to feel stress out, hurt, confused and hitting that point of wondering if God is even near. I know what it’s like to have my faith running at an all time low, But in those ties is when we need to be reminded that God is there. And in those ties is when we need to press into Him the most, and make a little effort on our part to get Him in the middle. And like it says in-

Matthew 17:20

"Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

It only takes the smallest seed of hope in God to ignite big faith! And I believe you’ve got big faith ready to break out and move the mountains in your life.
