Don't Fight the Climb!

I love this photo! As pretty as this climb looks, I think about myself at the bottom of the cliff. I think about how there is NO way I want my legs burning, my lungs gasping for breath, my legs shaking from the exertion as I try to climb those steps all the way to the top. And don't even get me started on how much my unfit joints would scream in pain the next day.

Everything about this climb tells me I just do not want to take it on. But, how often have we asked the Lord to direct our path? How many times have we said, where ever you lead me God, I will follow?

So what if He asked you to climb this mountain side? So often He asks us to take the hard road, the very one we wanted Him to guide us too. We just didn't realise the stamina and strength it would take to climb it. This is what we forget… He walks before us, beside us and behind us.

“The Lord, himself, goes before you and will be there with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8

For months I have diligently sought God's direction. I prayed daily for Him to lead me and my husband to where we needed to be. When the time came for us to step out in faith, He gave us no warning about the new mountain He would ask us to climb. As our hearts ached and the church family we had come to love were left behind, we grieved everything we had grown to take as comfort. All of a sudden we were in the storm again and feeling as if we had lost our very identities. Yet, through it all we found peace. Deep down we trusted our Heavenly Father. And we thanked Him amidst the storm.

Yes, both of us did the one thing we didn't want to do. We started climbing the mountain path, just like the picture. Was it easy? No. If I'm being honest, if God had of let us in on this earlier I may have fought Him every step of the way. But we recognised He had answered our prayers to follow Him, Just not in the way we thought he would.

God is full of surprises and a lot of the time we may not like the answer, but to trust Him is everything. To trust Him is to know the truth and weight His word holds. We knew He would never leave us. We also knew that our ministry, our purpose and callings were beginning to grow. We also knew that no matter where He called us, we would follow. God knows everything and he wants us to put our unwavering trust in His plan!

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

After a small break, where I sought rest with God and fasted, I made the biggest decision, one that was hard but so worth it. The scenery may have change, people may have moved on but, He will always be forever the same. Our One True Constant.

My Prayer for you today is that you take that first step. That if God has been prompting you to trust Him and step out of that boat and walk with Him. Do it! Or if He is asking you to take His hand and climb that mountain side, Do it! Because He will not leave you.

Bless you
