Little Sparrow Loved
Do we complicate our Christian walk?

Sometimes we over complicate things. We think too much into the things that are really quite simple.
How many of us have stressed about a situation to the point of playing the scene that hasn’t even happened yet over and over in our heads? And then when said situation arrives it didn’t go the way we thought it would, the way we were preparing for it to go.
Many times we repeat the verse of Matthew 6:34, Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. I know I do and yet I do worry, I overthink, overanalyse, over-plan and then well, I become overwhelmed!
And tonight I had a wake up call. You see, I can understand why Jesus loves the little ones. They see the truth for what it is. They don’t muddle it up with too many directions or emotions. They just hear what is the very core of the truth. They honestly do just live for the day. And I’m going to give you an example.
My tween was asked to do communion in the coming weeks. When we sat down this evening to discuss it because he was feeling a little stressed about how to write it down. So I asked him to explain to me what communion meant in his own words and we could write it down together. So there we were reading about the last supper in Luke and when we had finished I already had an idea about what we could cover. We could talk about the bread, the wine, the disciples, the atmosphere, what it could have been like. Before I could blurt out all the ideas I had, my son goes, “Oh the message of communion is easy.” I’m like...say what now?
“Well, Jesus was asking them to remember what He has done, and about to do. Do this in remembrance of me. Easy Peasy...”
So am I the only one who thinks He nailed it pretty well in about 10 seconds? You see he didn’t overcomplicate the message. He saw and read it for what his young heart understood.
By talking to him, he gave me the reminder I so often need. The truth is there, and yet somehow I still muddle it up, add my own rules, look for extra spiritual meaning, do works by keeping busy, yet why do I struggle to just see the simple truth that life is not complicated when Jesus takes the wheel.
It truly stirred stirred something so profound in me. I don’t need all the answers, I don’t need to perfect my life, I don’t need to see every verse from multiple angles. God reveals what we need, when we need to see it and with that we need to just take the simple and not over analyse. We need to dive deep into him every day in the day and leave tomorrow for tomorrow.
My goodness, children are the best teachers!
"This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me." -Luke 22:19
I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him. -John 14:6-7
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. ... Each day has enough trouble of its own.”- Matthew 6:34
I pray this blessed you today. And remember this life doesn’t have to be complicated when the answers are right there for us to find in Gods word.
Until next time be blessed, be a light, love Sarah, xx
