Are You Fighting on your Knees?

Are you fighting on your knees?
It’s a strange question isn’t it? I ask because everyday battles at one time or another do come against us. Hurtful words, broken relationships, money troubles, illness, the list goes on... Everything that is a contradiction to what God wants for us will at one time or another raise its ugly head, but I believe that in these times, it is when God is asking us these questions.
How do you fight?
How do you handle the situation you are unable to run from?
If you are fighting with words, spite, emotionally or physically and you aren’t fighting on your knees in prayer, then you are trying to fight the battle in your own strength, and let me tell you from experience, it usually does not end well. Recently I have had to learn this skill of falling to my knees all over again.
Even as Christians we need to be constantly re-trained in areas, take a reminder course in what works and what does not. Sure we can resolve things on occasion by our own might… I call it the Grace of God if we are successful, but often it just feels like an uphill battle, an emotional triathlon where you are literally pushing to the finish line with nothing left in the tank. By the time you cross the finish line, you have no more fight in you, but before you even have time to rest the next thing comes up! But, the answer is right in front of us.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. - 2 Chronicles 7:14
Often our day to day lives can leave us battle weary, emotionally, spiritually and sometimes physically. Yes, our bodies take a toll when we are under a huge amount of stress.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
- Ephesians 6:12
And don’t think that just because we trust in God that we are immune to attacks. Nope, we have a massive target on our backs. The enemy wants to bring us down. Have you ever had a day where everything seems to be going well? You think that whatever you are going through somehow doesn’t seem so big in the scheme of things, there’s light at the end of the tunnel, and... then Satan throws a reminder in your face? He takes you right back into the fight, where anxiety, stress and hurt overwhelm you once again. Well, I’m here to remind you of this.
God is our refuge! Our saviour, and he hears prayers! You want to win the battle you’re going through then there’s two steps I can remind you to do…
1-Pray
Often times we think our prayers are going off into outer space and He does not hear them. But he does. How do I know? Because his word does not lie. Find a quiet place and thank Him even through the storm. Let Him know you trust Him, even when you don’t like the answer or the wait. I promise you, everything God does, he does with your best interest at heart.
2- Read the Word
The word is truth, anything apart from the truth is a lie. In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God! The bible is a fountain of knowledge. It is more than a book, it is living and breathing with everything you could possibly need. You want to win the battle? Then meditate on the word. Write down scriptures if you need to and keep them close to you at your most vulnerable time.
Now don’t laugh, but I place the scriptures very often in my shirt. That way they’re always on hand! When I feel exhausted and would rather cry then fight another minute, I go back to my verses on my piece of paper.
Here are just a few to get you started.
"Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." - James 4:7
"No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; and every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their vindication is from Me," declares the Lord." - Is. 54:17
"Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." - Eph. 6:11-17
“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” - Luke 10:19
I don’t know what you are walking through right now, but I really felt led to encourage you as you walk the path set out before you. God is always by your side. He will never leave you nor forsake you. You are conquerors in His name. You are equipped and ready to win the battle!
Bless you, Sarah xx
